Book Marketing for Business Success - Why It Pays to Have a Second Opinion

If one is writing a book to market one's services, one probably already has many opinions about how to sell the book. In fact, the author's ideas are crucial to the success of her or his book. However, there are times when it is wise to get a second opinion about how to generate business success through the book marketing.

If one is not computer proficient, one may need input and help in designing an effective website for selling the book and advertising one's services. Anyone is likely perfectly capable of writing the content for the website, as long as they know what is required. They also need to know things like formatting and how to get a website up and running.

If one does not know much about the internet, someone with internet marketing experience can help one to use the web in getting visitors to come to the book site. There are a variety of ways to accomplish this. Some of them are writing articles for the web, posting on blogs, and using social media to get acquainted with people who are interested in one's subject.

Trying to get local exposure can be overwhelming to some. One might not know how to approach the local newspapers or radio stations to get publicity for a book. If one knows someone who has gone through the process before, one can learn through their experiences. Getting attention for a new book can be a trial and error proposition. Finding someone who has sold a book before to help can take out some of the guesswork.

Unless one has worked with the media before, one probably does not know what a good press release looks like. It makes sense to put out press releases for major book events. Some of these events might be when a first edition is published, book signings, or seminars relating to the book.

It is best to work with someone who can recognize a good press release. Even if one has a press release written by a copy writer, it cannot go out unless the author approves it. The author will want everything to be perfect. A second opinion from someone who has been there before can only help.

Although one may be marketing a business with a book, there are ways to promote that business beyond the book. If the author is caught up in the success of the book, she or he may be blinded to the possibilities that arise because of that success.

The author is busy doing personal appearances and interviews about the book. She or he may not realize the opportunities available. There might have a chance to diversify one's business by adding other professionals to one's office, for example. If someone close to the author can help her or him see what is out there, there will be less chance of missing out on successful business ventures.

One can certainly go it alone when writing a book to market one's services. Many people do just that. Yet a better sense of perspective can be gained by having someone to help the author see the big picture. A businessperson can become the number one author she or he has set out to be by doing some homework. By getting some good advice, one can avoid most of the pitfalls of being a first time author.
