The Turkish word is "soy-kirim" with the same meaning soy=kin and kirim=slaughter. The Hebrew root of the word comes from the Greek also.Taner Akcam in his 2006 book "A Shameful Act" defines genocide as: "the partial or complete destruction of an ethnic, national, racial or religious group, whether in periods of peace or war" p.9. Trapezous was founded by Ionian Greeks in 756 BC. The Pontic Greeks lived in the area of Pontus or Pontos for over 2700 years.
